Wellington to Masterton. A very memorable day of riding, made so by a tip from Paul. A little ways north of Wellington we jumped off Highway 2 onto the Rimutaka Incline -- an old railway line through the mountains. The rail line is now just a gravel road, but the road still snakes its way through all the original tunnels (four, I think). Incredible scenery. It was great to actually get off road a little bit. Although, Paul neglected to mention the three locked gates (no we were not trespassing, to keep the motorcycles out) that we (Mike) had to throw the bikes over (an easy task with just the bike, a little bit more difficult with all the gear strapped to it). Even though I managed to lose my CamelBak somewhere along the trail up there. Oh well, somebody will be very happy with my gift -- happy drinking. Do you see Mike in the first picture?
